Welcome to the Personal Mythology Study Guide!

I am delighted that you are renewing your EFT Universe Clinical EFT Certified Practitioner credential. This renewal option is based on the book Personal Mythology by psychologists Stanley Krippner and David Feinstein.

You’ll find a wealth of information in this book about how to recognize the archetypes that shape much of human understanding about self and others. In the final section of the text, you’ll also find a guide to applying EFT and other energy psychology techniques to release dysfunctional personal myths and install adaptive new ones.

After reading the book or listening to the audio version, you’ll complete quizzes that test your knowledge of the material.

Prepare yourself by taking notes as you read or listen. That will make passing the quizzes the first time easy. Here are some sample test questions to give you an idea of what to expect:

Q: According to the book, a “personal mythology” primarily serves as:

  •  A record of one’s dreams and experiences
  •  A psychological framework interpreting and organizing experiences
  •  A collection of cultural myths inherited from ancestors
  • A set of religious beliefs dictating morality

Q: What role does family mythology play in personal development?

  •  It serves as an irrelevant background
  •  It is a template to be discarded
  •  It provides foundational beliefs to embrace, modify, or disregard
  •  It dictates personal mythology without room for change

Q: Why is it important to reorganize your view of the past?

  •  To simplify complex memories into general themes
  •  To align your personal mythology with current psychological and spiritual development
  •  To create an entirely new mythology from scratch
  •  To focus only on positive memories

Q: What is a key symptom indicating internal mythic conflict?

  •  Physical illness with no apparent cause
  • Consistent dreams with the same theme
  •  Persistent feelings of fear, confusion, or ambivalence
  •  A strong connection to ancestral myths

As you can see, these questions are easy to answer if you’ve been taking notes. Pay close attention to the text, record pertinent points, and your notes will allow you to complete the quizzes effortlessly. If you’d like to get a hard copy from Amazon, here’s the order link.

The quizzes are “open book.” You can keep the PDF open in one screen or tab while you answer the quiz questions on a second screen or tab. You can also use the “search” function within the PDF to locate key words from a question or answer. The objective of the quizzes is to help you remember the important points from the book, and having the book “open” while you complete the questions assists with the process.

Even though you’re already a seasoned practitioner, you’re likely to learn a lot from this material. So approach it with “beginner’s mind” and have fun with this renewal course!
