Welcome to the EFT for Teens Study Guide!

I am delighted that you are renewing your EFT Universe Clinical EFT Certified Practitioner credential. This renewal option is based on the book EFT for Teens by psychologist (and mom!) Peta Stapleton.

Though this book focuses on teens, you’ll find the concepts relevant to younger and older children too. You’ll find a wealth of insight on how to work with children and their families in the approaches and examples below.

In this course, you’ll read this short book and complete quizzes that test your knowledge of the material.

Prepare yourself by taking notes as you read. That will make passing the quizzes the first time easy. There are questions about EFT techniques, about the content of each chapter, and about the case histories provided as examples. Here are some sample test questions to give you an idea of what to expect:

Q: What is one of the common family issues that teens can use tapping to address?

  •  Feeling neglected by their friends
  •  Anger due to parents’ divorce or constant fighting
  •  Struggling with homework and school performance
  •  Feeling frustrated with their schoolmates

Q: When tapping to overcome negative beliefs about achieving a goal, which of the following is an example of a good Setup Statement?

  • Even though I don’t deserve this goal, I choose to go after it full-out.
  • Even though I doubt my ability, I choose to let that go now and love and accept myself anyway.
  • Even though this goal is impossible, I choose to ignore my doubts.
  • Even though I don’t want this goal, I’m going to go after it anyway because it is the right thing to do.

Q: What does it mean if you feel worse after a tapping session?

  • The tapping technique is ineffective and should be stopped
  • The issue is too big to address with EFT
  • The tapping is likely working, as it may be uncovering deeper emotions
  • You should avoid tapping for a few weeks to allow time for healing

Q: What does tapping on the positive do for a teen?

  • Helps them focus on their negative emotions
  • Builds a storehouse of positive feeling states and helps create more positive receptors
  • Eliminates negative thoughts and feelings
  • Allows them to accept everything about themselves without change

As you can see, these questions are easy to answer if you’ve been taking notes. Pay close attention to the text, record pertinent points, and your notes will allow you to complete the quizzes effortlessly. If you’d like to get a hard copy from Amazon, here’s the order link.

The quizzes are “open book.” You can keep the PDF open in one screen or tab while you answer the quiz questions on a second screen or tab. You can also use the “search” function within the PDF to locate key words from a question or answer. The objective of the quizzes is to help you remember the important points from the book, and having the book “open” while you complete the questions assists with the process.

Even though you’re already a seasoned practitioner, you’re likely to learn a lot from this material. So approach it with “beginner’s mind” and have fun with this renewal course!
